Criminal investigation launched in Primorye after two girls delivered in local hospital after vaccination

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in Primorsky Territory have launched a criminal case over the signs of a crime under part 1 of article 293 of the RF Penal Code (negligence) following the pre-investigating check into the fact that two girls of 7 grade were delivered in Arsenyevsky city hospital after they had been vaccinated by the medical staff of Yakovlevskaya city hospital.

According to investigators, on 7 October 2013, officials of Yakovlevskaya city hospital, who were in charge of tuberculin skin testing and monitoring the process, tested children at the number 1 school in the village of Novosysoyevka exceeding the allowed dosage of the medicine and without getting agreement or notifying their parents. On 8 October two girls born in 2000, who had got a shot of the medicine, were hospitalized and diagnosed with allergic reaction to tuberculin.

At present a number of measures are being taken to find all the circumstances of the incident and identify the persons, whose improper discharge of their duties entailed the said consequences. The investigators are finding out who was the organizer of the vaccination, whether it was necessary, whether the medicine in question was certified and suitable and if the children were examined before the vaccination. The necessary forensic analyses will be assigned in the near future. The eyewitnesses and the victims are being questioned.

At present the victims are in satisfactory state. 28 children have been out in a children’s T.B. clinic for preventive purposes. The investigation is carried on.
