The court has found evidence gathered by Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict former Vice-President of NGO Russian Association of Businesswomen Lyudmila Kachalova and Yevgeny Chetvertnoy. Depending on the role do each one they were found guilty of instigation and complicity in a murder for hire (parts 4 and 5 of article 33, paragraph “h” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code) and a murder for hire (paragraph “h” of part 2 of article 105).

The court and the investigators have found that in 2011, Kachalova experiencing personal dislike to President of the Russian Association of Businesswomen Tatyana Malyutina based on the contradictions between them over public and financial activity, decided to kill the woman. With this purpose Kachalova offered Chetvertnoy, whom she employed and provided with living quarters without registration, to kill Malyutina for 50 thousand rubles. Kachalova knew that Malyutina had needed a plumber and offered Chetvertnoy to change into the plumber’s uniform and get into the victim’s flat in Bolshoy Afanasyevsky Pereulok and kill her. On 2 July 2011, Chetvernoy changed into the plumber’s uniform, took a plastic case with tools and headed for the Malyutina’s flat. There he had no opportunity to kill the woman as she was talking on the phone and left pretending to be needed a new tap. Later Chetvernoy came back to the flat and when Malyutina turned away hit her on the head by a screw key no less than 6 times. Having made sure that the victim was dead Chetvernoy fled the crime scene and the next day received from Kachalova the promised fee.

The court sentenced Kachalova to 13 years in a minimum-security penal colony and levied compensation for benefit of the victims: from Kachalova – 700 thousand rubles, from Chetvertnoy – 300 thousand rubles.
