Another criminal case launched in illegal actions aboard plane travelling from Krasnoyarsk to Moscow

During the investigation of the criminal case in acts of hooliganism of Andrey Tretyakov aboard Boeing-737 investigators of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have found out that he was not the only one to commit acts of hooliganism, an acquaintance of his Alexander Zuychenko did it too. Instead of quieting down riotous Trtyakov, Zuychenko used force against one of the passengers, who tried to reason with the rowdy, and threatened to kill him. A criminal case has been launched against Zuychenko into the crime under article 119 of the RF Penal Code (threat to kill).

At present investigators are already working on Zuychenko.

On 20 December 2013, the court in Novosibirsk Region will consider the petition to arrest Tretyakov. We hope that it will be satisfied considering the special public danger of his illegal actions. In addition investigators have reasons to think that Tretyakov may escape or influence the process of investigation while at large.

Based on the practice of investigating similar cases and considering the real danger of such characters for passengers, we believe that the norms of penal law currently in force do not correspond to today’s situation. This is why the Russia’s Investigative Committee has set forth a legislative initiative to make the punishment for such actions aboard the aircraft tougher.
