In Nizhny Novgorod head of local department of Federal Service for Supervision of Nature Resources, his deputy and businessman to face trial

The Volga Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case against head of the Volga Federal District Department of Federal Service for Supervision of Nature Resources Igor Lola, his deputy Pavel Atrokhin and businessman Eduard Antonov. Depending on the role in the crime of each of them they are charged with crimes under article 290 of the RF Penal Code (bribe-taking) and article 291 (bribe-giving).

According to investigators, Lola and Atrokhin received from a businessman in Nizhny Novgorod a bribe of a total of 879 thousand rubles for putting the latter in the composition of the public council in the Department of Federal Service for Supervision of Nature Resources.

In addition, Atrokhin received through mediators bribes of 600 and 500 thousand rubles from representatives of organization for issuing licenses for economic entities, and from Eduard Antonov, the CEO of a company based in Kazan – over 5 million rubles - for positive conclusion of state ecological expert examinations of solid domestic waste landfills, and for taking measures to annul the license issued to the competing organization.

Investigators have gathered enough evidence and the case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.

As it has been reported earlier, the criminal cases against the mediators – staffer of the Department of Federal Service for Supervision of Nature Resources Yulia Fayzrakhmanova and Director of "Federal Centre for analysis and Evaluation of Man-made Impact» for the Nizhny Novgorod region Alexei Shpanagel were severed into separate law suits and were sent to court to be tried in a special order. Considering their cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced them to suspended terms in prison.
