Kamchatka Territory Investigations Directorate staff took part in celebrations dedicated to 69th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War

The Kamchatka Territory is one of the first regions in the country to celebrate the Victory Day. Celebrations of the 69th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War began in the Victory Park in the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. At 10:30 am, a ceremony of laying flowers in memory of the fallen defenders of the motherland took place at the Eternal Flame.

Employees of the Investigations Directorate took part in the solemn rally, held a minute of silence to commemorate the fallen and took part in the ritual of laying flowers at the monument to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

Nearly 24,000 people were sent to the front from Kamchatka; more than 2 thousand of them gave their lives for freedom of the motherland. Those who stayed on the peninsula helped the front as much as they could. According to the archives, in 1943, a tank column "Kamchatka fisherman" was constructed on workers' personal savings and sent to the front. In the towns and villages of the peninsula, hundreds of people voluntarily donated hats, fur waistcoats, gloves, skins of deer, seals and other warm things at special centers.

Our people gained the victory due to great efforts. And it was forged not only on the battlefields but also deep in the hinterlands, such as Kamchatka.
