Investigative Committee to file motion to arrest former investigator in Khanty-Masiysk

At the order of the Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee criminal case against former senior investigator of Khanty-Mansi Inter-district Investigations Department Sharif Aripov has been passed in the Main Investigations Directorate.

According to investigators, Aripov did not take due measures during a procedural check into the rape reported by a young woman in Khanty-Masiysk. Instead of giving the report from the woman, who came to him for protection, an all-around check and find the rapist, Aripov made an illegal decision and refused to launch a criminal investigation. Later the rapist killed the woman.

For violation of the oath of the official of the Russia’s Investigative Committee and a deed defaming the honor of a Committee’s official Aripov was dismissed from his position. His immediate superior was also discharged from the bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee.

During the investigation Aripov has been detained. Custodial restraint is under discussion. In the near future investigators are going to charge him with a crime under part 3 of article 285 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of authority entailing grave consequences). For this crime he faces a punishment of up to 10 years in prison.

The investigation will be the most careful and unbiased, despite the fact that Aripov was our colleague. Never will an official of the Russia’s Investigative Committee, who has committed a misdemeanor or crime, be protected by their position, rank or merits from the legal responsibility – such is the firm position of the Investigative Committee senior officials, to which we shall continue to adhere.
