Entrepreneur Gennady Balashov arrested in absentia at request of investigators

At the request of the Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative committee of Russia, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow decided to take internationally wanted Gennady Balashov into custody in absentia. Previously, the court had ordered to charge him with crimes under Paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 282 of the RF Criminal Code, Part 4 of Article 33, Article 30 of Part 3, Paragraphs "a,k" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (incitement to hatred and enmity, incitement to attempted murder).

According to investigators, March 10, 2014, speaking at the Independence Square in Kiev, Gennady Balashov expressed public appeals aimed at inciting hatred and enmity against the citizens of the Russian Federation staying in Ukraine, inciting the crowd to commit killings.

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
