Congratulations on Russian Investigators’ Day from Alexander Bastrykin

I heartily congratulate government officials, the officers of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and all the veterans on the Russian Investigators’ Day.

In accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No.741 of August 27, 2013, for the first time, the investigative bodies of Russia celebrate their professional holiday regardless of their affiliation.

July 25, 1713, Russian Emperor Peter I signed a decree establishing the investigations office of Semyonovskoye Life-Guards Regiment Major M.Volkonsky, which was the first Russian state agency with the mandate to conduct preliminary investigations and was directly subordinate to the Head of State.

From then on, the history of investigative bodies has been continuously enriched by many examples of selfless service to the Fatherland.

Today, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is the leading element in the law enforcement system of Russia with its staff is always at the forefront of the fight against crime.

By marking our professional holiday we pay tribute to the veterans of investigative bodies and those of our comrades who had been killed in the line of duty. We will remember them as heroes who remained loyal to the Fatherland and the oath.

I am confident that the best traditions started by investigating bodies’ veterans will continue to grow stronger and be multiplied by today’s investigators in the name of justice and well-being of the citizens of Russia.

I wish you all good health, happiness, stamina, optimism and new achievements in serving to the Law and the Fatherland!

Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee

Colonel-General of Justice A. Bastrykin
