Today Basmanny District Court of Moscow has granted the request of investigators to remand in custody deputy head of capital repairs distance of railway service of Moscow Underground Railway Alexey Trofimov. He is suspected of a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety rules for traffic and operation of metro entailing death of two or more people).

The investigators believe that Trofimov, who personally was involved in works on a track switch mechanism for a section between Park Pobedy and Slavyansky Boulevard stations overlooked improper fixation of the switch blade. Those actions together with those of other suspects led to the accident with a metro train leaving the track killing 23 and injuring over 150 people.

Earlier senior track supervisor of Moscow Underground Railway Valery Bashkarov, his assistant Yuri Gordov and production director of subcontractor OOO Spetstekhrekonstruktsiya Anatoly Kruglov were arrested under the same investigation.

Investigating operations are continued to find out all the circumstances of the tragedy and identify those responsible.
