Today Basmanny District Court of Moscow has granted the request of investigators to remand in custody production director of subcontractor OOO Spetstekhrekonstruktsiya Anatoly Kruglov. He is suspected of a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety rules for traffic and operation of metro entailing death of two or more people).

According to the investigators, Kruglov was in charge of works on a track switch mechanism for a section between Park Pobedy and Slavyansky Boulevard stations, but failed to carry out proper supervision. Those actions together with those of other suspects led to the accident with a metro train leaving the track killing 22 and injuring over 150 people.

Earlier under the same investigation senior track supervisor of Moscow Underground Railway Valery Bashkarov and his assistant Yuri Gordov were arrested on suspicions of a crime under part 3 of article 263.1 of the RF Penal Code (violations of transportation safety). The investigators are going to request arrest of another suspect – deputy head of capital repairs distance of railway service of Moscow Underground Railway Alexey Trofimov.

Investigating operations are continued to find out all the circumstances of the tragedy and identify those responsible.
