In Dagestan driver charged with safety breach leaving 9 dead by negligence

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Republic of Dagestan have charged the driver of a UAZ minibus with a crime under part 3 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (providing services not meeting safety standards for life and health of consumers entailing death of 9 people by negligence).

We remind that on 4 June 2014, around 9 in the morning after a rockslide triggered by heavy rains, on the 33rd km of the Kidero-Agvali motorway near the village of Sagada, Tsuntinsky District a minibus with 16 passengers fell in the gorge with the Andiyskoye Koysu river on the bottom. 9 people, including 2 children, were killed at the scene. 6 more people were taken to hospitals with various injuries. One passenger is still unaccounted for. According to investigators, the minibus was designed to carry maximum of 8 people and had no special seats for children under 12 years of age, and by that the driver breached the regulations.

At present investigative operations are continued, necessary forensic analyses are being run. The investigation is ongoing.
