In Moscow criminal investigation launched in traffic accident leaving elderly woman disabled

A criminal investigation into a crime under part 2 of article 264 of the RF Penal Code (violation of traffic code and transport operations regulations involving infliction of grievous bodily harm by negligence) has been opened after the investigating bodies of Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee reviewed the files of the check requested from law enforcement bodies.

It has been reported earlier that on 3 December 2012, the man was driving his car on Fadeyev Street, where he hit the woman inflicting grievous bodily harm. According to the victim, she was unconscious for a long time, and the injuries she suffered in the accident left her disabled.

At present investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident. At the same time, the investigators took the victim’s arguments into consideration and are checking actions of the officials of the Office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior for the Central Administrative District of Moscow, who refused to initiate a criminal case over the accident. In case the failure to fulfill their professional responsibilities appropriately is confirmed, the actions of the responsible ones will be classified as wrongdoings.

The investigation is ongoing.
