Investigative Committee launches pre-investigating check in traffic accident in Moscow leaving elderly woman disabled

On 3 September 2014, a number of media published reports that in Moscow a driver ran over an elderly woman leaving her injured. Moscow main Investigations Directorate has launched a preliminary check into possible negligence by the officials of the Office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior for the Central Administrative District of Moscow, who refused to initiate a criminal case over the accident.

According to preliminary reports, on 3 December 2012, the man was driving his car on Fadeyev Street, where he hit the woman inflicting grievous bodily harm. According to the victim, she was unconscious for a long time, and the injuries she suffered in the accident left her disabled. The woman applied for law enforcement bodies several times, but to no result as the criminal case was not opened.

Moscow Main Investigations Directorate filed a request with the supervising prosecutor to cancel the refusal of opening the criminal case and to pass the files to the Investigations Directorate for thorough investigation.

By now the said files have already arrived to the investigators. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
