The Komi Republic investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case against a 30-year-old resident of the town of Vorkuta accused of grievous bodily harm to her daughter.

According to investigators, on 8 December 2014, in a flat in Parkovaya street the woman pushed away her daughter aged a year and four months. The girl fell down and hit her head on a wardrobe, after which the woman hit her with fists on different parts of her body. An ambulance delivered the girl in a town hospital with the symptoms of a serious closed brain injury. In the morning of 25 December the girl died so the woman’s crime will be reclassified as a more serious one.

During the probe the investigators got information that the bodies in charge of prevention of neglect and crimes among minors in the town of Vorkuta had failed to carry out proper preventive work in the girl’s family resulting in grave consequences. Considering all the above mentioned the investigating bodies have launched an investigation in a crime under part 2 of article 293 of the RF Penal Code (negligence entailing grievous bodily harm or death of a person). At present a number of investigating operations are underway to identify all the officials who allowed negligence to their duty leading to a tragedy.
