In Yakutia criminal proceedings launched against driver over attempted murder of pedestrian

Following a pre-investigating check in connection with video posted in a number of media showing how a Nissan Dualis runs down a pedestrian multiple times, Sakha (Yakutia) investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal case against a 37-year-old female driver over a crime under part 3 of article 30, part 1 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (attempted murder).

Video from a CCTV camera set up on Serebrovsky Street in the town of Aldana, a young woman was passing the Nissan Dualis when she fell and hit the car door with her hand. Right after that the driver started to reverse and apparently deliberately ran down the defenseless woman several times.

The 34-year-old victim was taken to hospital.

The video impartially demonstrates cynicism and cruelty of the driver’s actions. No doubt that adequate legal assessment will be given to that wrongdoing. It is absolutely obvious that running down the woman several times on a 1.5-ton car the driver had to be realizing the gravity of consequences. So her actions are qualified as no less than an attempted murder.

The woman has been detained and restraint is expected soon.

The investigation is ongoing and its progress is controlled by the senior officials of the Russia’s Investigative Committee.
