In Tatarstan presumable parents of toddler abandoned in entrance hall identified

Tatarstan investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have identified presumable parents of a toddler aged 2-3 abandoned in a communal entrance hall of a block of flats in Devyatayev street in the city of Kazan. Investigation in a crime under article 125 of the RF Penal Code - abandoning in danger - is underway.

Presumably, the child’s mother is a 20-year-old woman from the town of Zelenodolsk, who was raised in a children’s home in Arsk District in Tatarstan. According to initial information she said that she would abandon the boy after her lover and the boy’s father had left her.

DNA samples have been taken from the boy and the man to check if he is the father. The boy’s mother is wanted.

Investigative operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the incident. In addition, the investigators are going to figure out reasons and conditions that contributed to the crime and special directives will be issued to prevent similar incidents.

The investigation is controlled by the Central Office of the Russia’s Investigative Committee.
