Former high ranking police officer arrested in Moscow

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation against former chief of Western Administrative District Police Department of Moscow Main Office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior Vladimir Rozhkov suspected of a crime under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (bribery on a very large scale).

According to investigators, Rozhkov, while serving as chief of Western Administrative District Police Department of Moscow Main Office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior, took large cash bribes, cars and services for patronage.

Rozhkov has been detained at Vnukovo airport in Moscow. A court has ruled to place him in custody pending trial. Charges will be pressed soon. The investigation is ongoing.
