Probe opened in brutal murder of 5-year-old Russian boy in Bulgaria

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation in a crime under part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder of two or more people) after two Russian citizens were killed in Bulgaria.

On 23 March 2015, a suitcase with a dead body of Russian Nikita Leontyev, 5, with numerous stab wounds, inside was found on the shore of Pasarel Lake, near the city of Primorsko. A dismembered body of a Russian woman was found in Primorsko several days before that, on 2 March. According to preliminary information, the woman was the boy’s mother Anna Leontyeva, 35. The mother and some had lived in Perm Territory, but several months ago had moved to Bulgaria.

The probe was started due to the fact that under part 3 of article 12 of the RF Penal Code, foreign citizens and stateless people are subject to prosecution in cases if the crime was committed against Russian citizens.

At the present time, investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. During the probe the investigators are going to prepare requests of legal aid to be filed with competent bodies in Bulgaria.
