In Saint-Petersburg criminal investigation opened following report spread in media about beating up Great Patriotic War veteran

On 15 May 2015, it became known from the reports published in mass media that possible wrongdoings were committed on 12 May 2015, by the personnel of City Hospital No 100 against a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, an underage prisoner of fascist concentration camps, born in 1937.

Following a preliminary check aimed at finding out all the circumstances of the crime, the investigating bodies of the Saint-Petersburg Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened an investigation in a crime under paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 286 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of power using violence). During the probe the investigators are going to question all the witnesses of the incident, confiscate necessary documents and assign and run forensic tests.

The investigators are going to give tough qualification to the actions of all officials involved in the crime. The progress of the investigation is kept under special control of the senior officials of the Saint-Petersburg Main Investigations Directorate.
