Former Governor of Sakhalin Region Alexander Khoroshavin charged with new bribery account

The Russia’s Investigative Committee continues investigation against former Governor of Sakhalin Region Alexander Khoroshavin and his accomplices.

Earlier, during the investigation charges were pressed against former Deputy Chairman of the Sakhalin Region Government in charge of fishing industry and agro-industrial complex Sergey Karepkin and former Minister of Agriculture, Trade and Food of Sakhalin Region Nikolai Borisvo. Karepkin is accused of a crime under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (bribery on a very large scale), Borisov – part 4 of article 291.1 (intermediacy in bribery on a very large scale).

According to investigators, the officials took a bribe of at least 15 million rubles for actions connected with allocating subsidies for support of farmers.

At present Khoroshavin is also charged with a crime under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (bribery on a very large scale).

Before that Khoroshavin was charged with a crime under part 6 of article 290 (bribery taken by an official on a very large scale) and his accomplice Andrey Ikramov – with a crime under part 4 of article 291.1 (intermediacy in bribery on a very large scale).

According to investigators, in 2011, then Governor of Sakhalin Region through Andrey Ikramov demanded from the leadership of OOO Sakhalin Company Energostroy to give him a bribe of 6% of the sums the company would have got based on monthly completion certificates. During 2 years Khoroshavin via Ikramov received over 5.6 million US dollars for acting in the interests of Energostroy.

At present, the investigations in the two said accounts have been joined in a single proceeding. Investigators are checking if there are other accounts of criminal activity of Khoroshavin and his accomplices.
