Criminal case filed against Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada member Iryna Farion into incitement to murder and extremist statements

The Office for the Investigation of Crimes related to the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has filed a criminal case against a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Irina Farion on grounds of crimes under part 4 of article 33, paragraphs "a,k" of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (incitement to commit a murder), part 1 of article 282 of the RF Criminal Code (incitement of hatred or hostility, and humiliation of human dignity).

According to investigators, On October 15, 2014, at a nationalistic rally held in Kiev, Verkhovna Rada Member Irina Farion publicly, including using the mass media, made a destructive and violent call to action prompting to destroy Russia as a state and Russians as an ethnic  group. A psycho-linguistic forensic examination was conducted to study her statements, which were confirmed to be criminal.

Recall that in accordance with part 3 of article 12 of the RF Criminal Code, foreign citizens who do not reside permanently in the Russian Federation who have committed a crime outside the Russian Federation shall be subject to criminal liability under the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, if the crime is directed against the interests of the Russian Federation or its citizens.

The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
