In the morning of 27 February 2016, a wooden ceiling collapsed in a flat of a two-storey brick house in the settlement of Yasnaya Polyana, Biysk District, Altai Territory. The wooden beams fell on a 12-year-old girl who lived in the flat. The girl died on the spot. The Altai Territory Directorate of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation in a crime under Part 1 of Article 109 of the RF Penal Code (infliction of death by negligence).

An investigative team consisting of most experienced officials of the regional directorate of the Investigative Committee has set out for the scene immediately. It has been revealed that the house the tragedy took place in, was built in 1959 and is under authority of the territorial state unitary enterprise Biyskoye.

All details of the incident are being looked into at the moment. The scene has been examined while the witnesses are being questioned. The investigators are carrying out searches and confiscating documents regarding the maintenance of the house. The investigators are going to qualify the actions of the officials responsible for the maintenance of the house and those of the local government.

The investigation is under special control of the senior officials of the Altai Territory Directorate of the Investigative Committee.
