In Orenburg Region, director of OOO Zhilkomservis detained under investigation in injuries got by children when icicles fell from roof of house

The Orenburg Region authorities of the Investigative Committee have detained the director of OOO Zhilkomservis during an investigation opened on 6 March 2016, when some children had gotten injuries after icicles fell on them from the roof of a house.

According to the investigation, on 6 March 2016, two boys aged 5 and 8 were walking with their father near a 5-floor block of flats in Kommunisticheskaya Street in the town of Buguruslan, when parts of two-meter-long icicles fell on them from the roof. The children were injured. The 5-year-old is in the intensive care unit in a hospital where he was taken with a basal skull and temporal bone fractures. He has had a surgery by now. The second boy was taken to a hospital with chest injury and was discharged after treatment.

The investigators had enough reasons to detain the director of OOO Zhilkomservis that managed the block of flats, on a suspicion of a crime under Part 2, item “c” of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code (rendering services that do not meet safety standards entailing grievous bodily harm). The suspect is under house arrest pending trial. The investigation is ongoing.
