Information on check into legality of procedural decisions related to Belykh not true

Clumsy attempts to affect the investigation against Nikita Belykh continue: from illiterate allegations of lawyers apparently not too much familiar with the Criminal Procedure Code, theatrical gests of wringing their hands of liberal activists saying “we do not believe” and to today’s input of misinforamtion coming from some “sources inside investigative bodies” who claim that “the inspection directorate of the Investigative Committee has started checking materials that form the ground for opening the case against the governor of Kirov Region”.

First, I repeat once more that the only credible source of information related to the case is the official conducting the investigation.

Secondly, to all appearances that so-called source lacks expertise, as does the lawyer. But it may happen that these two are one and the same person. If a person does not know the Criminal Procedure Code well enough, how can he know about authority and functions of the divisions of the Investigative Committee?

And thirdly and most importantly – the legality and solid reasons for opening the case and the restraint have been checked by the Basmanny Court and the Moscow City Court has today sustained this decision. And only court has the right to make the final decision.

So all those vain attempts to discredit the investigation, to affect it, or to glorify publicly the accused will by no means influence the impartiality, thoroughness of the probe or firmness of the investigators. And those who go on with their attempts to affect the investigation this way or in any other elaborate manner and those wanting to take part in the competition for the best excuse of the accused, I wish success in their fantasies.
