Working meeting of Russia’s Investigative Committee Chairman and Prosecutor General of Egypt

Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin and Prosecutor General of Egypt Nebil Sadek met today at the RF Investigative Committee.

The meeting was also attended by Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Sharif Attia, Head of the Investigative Committee under the Egypt’s Ministry of Defense Aiman El Mokadem, Egypt’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Russia Mohamed El Badri.

During the meeting the officials discussed pressing issues of cooperation between the two countries for finding out the causes of the crash of Airbus A321 plane that carried Russian citizens that happened over Sinai peninsula (Egypt) in October 2015 and the progress of investigators conducted by the Russia’s Investigative Committee and competent authorities of Egypt. The parties reached an agreement on the necessity to develop bilateral cooperation on this issues including by exchange of information and on activation of direct contracts between Russian and Egyptian investigators and experts in due order. The parties noted the importance of this work and its results for consolidation of relationship between Russia and Egypt in the field of national security in both countries.

In addition, the heads of the agencies discussed the possibility to sign a bilateral international agreement between the agencies for consolidation of relations and more efficient cooperation on the issues of mutual interest.
