The Novgorod Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation into evasion of taxes by OOO Rovelstroy, a limited liability company (Part 2, item “b” of Article 199 of the RF Penal Code).

According to investigators, top managers of OO Rovelstroy evaded paying more than 17 million rubles in VAT and profit tax in 2-4 quarters of 2013 and 1 quarter 2015 by putting false information in tax declarations and by unfoundedly using VAT deduction related to settlement of contracts signed with sham companies. This way the RF budget suffered a damage on a very large scale.

The basis for the investigation became files provided by the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Novgorod Region Office of the Investigation Ministry.

Investigators of the major cases department of the Novgorod Region Office of the Investigative Committee together with police operatives have carried out searches in Novgorod Region and the city of Saint Petersburg to find and confiscate objects and documents relevant for the probe.
