In Smolensk Region, man charged with child molestation to stand trial

The first department of the Investigative Committee’s Head Office based in Moscow has finished the investigation against Andrei Golovushkin. He is charged with crimes under Articles 131 (rape) and 132 of the RF Penal Code (sexual abuse).

According to investigators, between 1987 and 2014, Golovushkin raped, sexually abused and threatened to kill 5 girls whom he had not known before. He committed his crimes in the city of Moscow and in Smolensk, Lipetsk and Kaluga Regions. He chose deserted places to take his victims to, whom he forced, threatened or lured into his car (one of assaults he committed in an elevator).

A forensic psychiatric inquiry found that Golovushkin had sexual disorder.

The man managed to hide from investigators for a long time, but after his last crime committed in 2014 he was finally detained. DNA tests showed that he was involved in other crimes. Additionally, his guilt is confirmed by crime scene investigation protocols, statements of the victims and witnesses and conclusions of other forensic inquiries.

The investigators have enough evidence, so the criminal case with the approved indictment has been referred to court.
