Teenage girl murder suspect arrested in Volgograd

The Volgograd Region Office of the Investigative Committee continues the investigation into the murder of a 15-year-old girl whose body was found on 3 October 2016 in a refuse bin in Krasnoarmeysky District of Volgograd (Article 105 of the RF Penal Code).

As became known earlier, most experienced investigators and criminalists of the regional investigative authority and police operatives were involved the search of the perpetrator. The day before, they apprehended girl’s neighbor who was previously convicted multiple times of drug dealing, robbery and car theft. According to investigators on 2 October 2016, the intoxicated man met the girl on the stairwell and deceitfully lured her into his flat by asking to help him about the house. He then raped her and strangled. He hid the body under a sofa and then threw it in the refuse bin at night.

A court today issued an arrest warrant against the 31-year-old man, who confessed to the crime and gave detailed account of it. The investigators keep on gathering evidence. They have questioned some 80 people, carried out more than 60 searches and assigned at least 30 forensic inquiries. They have revealed that the man stole girl’s jewelries and sold them. By now all of the stolen jewelries have been confiscated and will soon be given back to the victim’s family. The investigation is ongoing.
