Animal abuse case in Khabarovsk Territory given to Investigative Committee’s Central Office

Due to a lot of appeals made by citizens, Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has given an order that the criminal case over animal abuse in Khabarovsk Territory be transferred to the sixth department of the Investigative Committee’s Head Office (based in the city of Khabarovsk) for thorough and impartial investigation.

Two 17-year-old girls are charged with a crime under Part 2 of Article 245 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of animals committed by a group of people in collision). According to investigators, the girls tortured at least 15 animals and birds, the exact number is still being counted.

Both of the girls are going to get a psychiatric evaluation. They are now being checked on involvement in other crimes. It is possible that there will be more accused in this case.

The investigators are going to look carefully into the circumstances of the crime and find out the reasons and conditions that contributed to it.
