Probe launched in traffic accident killing 7 in Chechnya

The Chechen Republic office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in a traffic accident that killed 7 people and set to hospital two more (Part 5 of Article 264 of the RF Penal Code – violation of traffic code entailing death of two or more people by negligence).

According to investigators, about 10:30 PM, 27 November 2016, driver of a Ford Focus lost control of the car, drove to the wrong lane and collided with a VAZ-21114 and a Lada-Priora while entering the city of Grozny from the direction of the settlement of Alkhan-Yurt, Urus-Martan District.

7 people, including the driver of the Ford-Focus and a passenger of his, were killed in the accident. The driver of the VAZ-21114 and four of his passengers, including girls aged 10 and 14 also died on the scene. The driver of the Lada-Priora and an underage passenger of the Ford Focus were taken to hospital.

At present an investigator is looking into all the circumstances surrounding the accident. Blood of the Ford Focus driver is going to be tested from alcohol. The investigation is ongoing.
