Progress of probes into anti-doping violations

The RF Investigative Committee continues investigating violations of anti-doping rules. Searches have been carried out today in a number of regions. More than 60 athletes, including T. Chernova, O. Kaniskina, A. Chicherova, T. Beloborodov and others have been questioned by now.

High-ranking officials of the RF Ministry of Sport, Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), All-Russian Federation of Athletics (Rusathletics), Anti-Doping Center and Mordovia Olympic Center for race walking, as well as Y. Nagornykh, A. Melnikov and N. Zhelanova have also been interviewed.

A forensic document chemical inquiry using methods recommended by WADA has been assigned, as well as a forensic inquiry to check arguments given by McLaren that Berlinger doping sample bottles might have been tampered with. As was announced before, quality certificates for those bottles as well as data on the expert examinations run have been requested from Berlinger company. Officials and managers of companies via which Belinger supplied the bottles for the Anti-Doping Center are being questioned.

At the same time, Russian investigators are executing a legal assistance request from the High Court of Paris concerning the criminal case opened against officials of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) charged with corruption and concealing the facts of doping use. Athlete Lilia Shobukhova and her husband and coach have been questioned in the city of Ufa thereupon. The investigation is ongoing.
