The Yakutsk Garrison Military Office of the Investigative Committee has launched a pre-investigation check into the crash landing of an Ilyushin Il-18 plane.

According to preliminary information the Il-18 plane of military unit 77979 was on a planned flight. About 4:45 AM, local time, 19 December 2016, upon going to land the plan was lost from locators. A Mil Mi-8 helicopter was sent to search and found the plane which had crash landed some 30 km from Tiksi Airport. All the passengers and crew are alive. The injured were taken to hospitals.

An investigative team has taken off for the scene. Criminalists of the Eastern Military District Office of the Investigative Committee are involved in the investigation to provide practical assistance and guidance.

A procedural decision will be made following the check.
