In Moscow Region, sentence passed over swimming coach who provided unsafe services that entailed death of child

A court has recognized the evidence collected by the Moscow Region Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict 50-year-old Yelena Chudakova found guilty of providing services that do not meet safety standards and entailed death of a child by negligence under Part 2, item “c” of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code.

The court and investigators have established that on 23 November 2015, during a swimming practice in the Saturn swimming pool in the town of Ramenskoye, a 9-year-old boy left unattended by swimming coach Chudakova, passed out and submerged. A short time later the boy was pulled out of water and got medical aid. He then was taken to a hospital where he died on 7 December.

In order to find out all the details surrounding the incident, investigators conducted a lot of investigative operations. They confiscated and analyzed documents of the Saturn sports center and the Saturn children and youth sports school, studied the information on the children who attended the swimming section together with the victim.

The court has given Chudakova a suspended sentence of 2 years in prison.
