In Transbaikalian Territory, local resident found guilty of series of major crimes in criminal group

A court has recognized the evidence collected by the Transbaikalian Territory Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict 37-year-old resident of the town of Chita Nikolai Sivolap. He was found guilty of crimes under part 2 of Article 210 (membership in a criminal community), Part 2 of Article 209 (membership in a stable armed gang), Part 2, items “a’, “g” and “h’ of Article 105 (murder of two or more people committed on a contract in an organized group), Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2, items “a”, “g” and “h” of Article 105 (attempted murder of two or more people committed on a contract in an organized group), Part 4, items “a” and “b” of Article 162 (robbery committed by an organized group), Part 4 of Article 166 (theft of a vehicle committed with a threat of violence dangerous for the life and health), Part 3 of Article 222 of the RF Penal Code (illegal purchase, transfer, storage or carrying of firearms and ammunition committed by an organized group).

The court and investigators have revealed that from 2004 to 2007, Sivolap was an active member of the largest in Transbaikalian Territory criminal community “Osentsevskiye”. As a member of the gang he was an accessory to murders of six people and to attempted murders of three more. Additionally, Sivolap kept guns used by the gangsters to kill, including two sawn-off hunting rifles, Walter, TT pistols and three gas pistols refit to shoot with live cartridges, as well as cartridges.

In addition, in July 2007, Sivolap with six other members of the gang robbed a driver of a Kamaz truck that was carrying some 15 tons of jade. The perpetrators had put on the traffic police uniforms, stopped the truck, forced the driver and his small son to get into another vehicle and had taken them to a forest. They had stolen the truck and moved it to a base, unloaded the jade and then returned the empty truck to the driver. Sivolap, who could drive a truck, was the one who had driven the truck to a base and back. The stolen jade was worth more than 2.3 million rubles.

The court has sentenced Sivolap to 22 years in prison and a fine of 725 thousand rubles.
