Maly Theater hosts concert dedicated to day when Investigative Committee was formed

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was established on 15 January 2011 by the presidential decree of 27 September 2010 No 1182. The agency has been acting as an independent federal state body for 6 years now taking criminal proceedings in accordance with the laws of the Russian Federation.

While successfully carrying out its main function of looking into complicated and high-profile crimes, the Investigative Committee also pays close attention to developing law culture in citizens, raising the younger generation in patriotic spirit and moral development of young employees and future investigators, including in cooperation with institutions of culture, art and education. One of such institutions is the State Academic Maly Theater with the administration o9f which Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin signed a cooperation agreement last June.

The idea to hold a concert for employees of the Investigative Committee belongs to the head of Maly Theater, People’s Artist of the USSR Yuri Solomin. The Investigative Committee supported the offer with gratitude.

The event was attended by employees of the Investigative Committee’s central office and territorial bodies, members of their families, veterans of investigation, members of the Investigative Committee’s Civic Council, cadets of the Alexander Nevsky Cade School and Academy of the Investigative Committee.

Mr. Bastrykin made a welcoming speech, summarized the performance of the Committee and noted “the importance of implementing the idea of separating investigative functions of law-enforcement bodies from other procedural functions at the stage of criminal proceedings”. Mr. Bastrykin also mentioned contribution being made by veterans of the Investigative Committee “who laid the basis and historical traditions of investigative job.” The Chairman thanked investigators, forensic specialists, all employees of the agency and their families: “I would like to express special gratitude to wives, mothers, fathers, brothers, children and all families who wait us and believe in us.” He also addressed his sincere gratitude to Mr. Solomin for the opportunity to get together in Maly Theater.

After performance the Chairman noted the contribution the company made into Russian culture and moral education of the younger generation by rewarding the actors with presents and letters of commendation.  

Mr. Bastrykin recited his poems dedicated to the talent and artistic skill of Elina Bystritskaya and Yuri Solomin.

The Theater’s head Mr. Solomin, general director Tamara Mikhailova, deputy general director yuri Arkhipov, employee of the theater Alexander Nikiforov, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Vladimir Beilis, People’s Artist of the USSR Elina Bystritskaya were awarded medals “For Pure Intentions and Noble Deeds”.

At the end of the evening Mr. Bastrykin awarded medals “For Devoted Service” to Vice Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Fyodorov and Vice-Chairman of the Investigative Committee - head of the Military Investigative Directorate Alexander Sorochkin, medals “For Service” to Vice-Chairmen of the Investigative Committee Boris Karnaukhov and Yelena Lionenko; medals “For Excellence” to Vice-Chairmen of the Investigative Committee Igor Krasnova and Ilya Lazutov.

Mr. Bastrykin also mentioned the contribution in the creation of the Investigative Committee and its image made by former head of media relations Vladimir Markin who is currently a member of the Investigative Committee’s Civic Council. The Chairman awarded him a medal “Valor and Courage” and an engraved watch.

Other heads of Committee’s divisions were also awarded.
