Following order of Investigative Committee Chairman, Central Office takes over probe in attempt on police officer in Moscow

Following the order of the Chairman, the Investigative Committee’s Major Cases Office has taken over an investigation in an attempt on a police officer in Moscow under Article 317 of the RF Penal Code.

As became known earlier, on 26 March 2017, some unidentified people hit a policeman on duty on his head multiple times with an unknown object in downtown Moscow. The policeman is now at a hospital in grave condition.

Investigators are going to take all possible steps to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime and to identify and detain all those involved in the crime. It is no coincidence that legislation has an attempt on a law-enforcer as a major crime as life and health of many citizens depend on a policeman, who protects public order. The Investigative Committee has given and will give the toughest legal assessment to such crimes against law-enforcers.
