In Sakha (Yakutia), negligence probe launched into toppled car and injured children

The Sakha (Yakutia) Republic Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in negligence of officials of the Korkin Sports Boarding School of Churapcha under Part 1 of Article 293 of the RF Penal Code which entailed a traffic accident that injured some school inmates.

According to investigators, on 25 March 2017, employees of the sports school were transporting students 5th through 8th grades to a volleyball competition, but the school administration had failed to notify the Churapcha District traffic police department about the trip. During the trip, the driver of a UAZ 390995 on the way from the settlement of Churapcha to the settlement of Cherkekh, Tattinsky District, lost control of the car which then tipped over.

Out of 13 children, 7 were injured and 3 of them were taken to the surgical department of the Churapcha Central District Hospital.

By now the investigators have examined the scene and ordered forensic medical examinations. The investigation is ongoing.
