Alexander Bastrykin orders check in media reports on improper living conditions of person with disabilities in Udmurtia

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee has ordered the head of the Committee’s Udmurtia Office to run a check in improper living conditions of a wheelchair-bound disabled person in the town of Izhevsk.

A federal TV channel showed today a coverage about an elderly woman and her disabled daughter, who has been unable to leave the house as the women live on the fourth floor not equipped with ramps. The coverage went on to say that before that the family had lived on the first floor, but they had to move to the fourth floor due to some personal circumstances. The elderly woman believe that they were deceived when they had to move.

Investigators are going to analyze the documents regulating mounting of special equipment for people with disabilities. Neighbors are planned to be interviewed as to why they are opposed to fitting the house with equipment essential for people with disabilities. If the investigators find signs of a crime in the actions (omission) of the administration officials, they will give it legal assessment up to initiating criminal proceedings.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee has ordered that the Investigative Committee’s Central Office should take the check under control. In addition, Mr. Bastrykin also ordered the Central Office the checks into media reports being run by the Novosibirsk Region and Krasnoyarsk Territory Offices of the Investigative Committee after a child was put in a dustbin by the mother, and a party where teenagers got indecent tattoos.
