Kabardino-Balkaria’s investigators looking in mass food poisoning of children in summer camp

The Kabardino-Balkaria Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in unsafe services under Part 1 of Article 238 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, 9 children aged between 7 and 13 felt unwell after a meal in Kazachok summer camp in the settlement of Kotlyarevskaya, Maisky District on 14 July 2017 and were taken to hospital with nausea and vomiting. The next day another 5 children were taken to hospital from the camp with similar symptoms. The children are in medium grave condition.

By now, the investigators have examined the camp, taken samples of the food and biological samples and sent them for tests. They have also taken samples of fruit that grow in the camo and which children ate. The camp’s services have been suspended until the nidus of infection is found. The administration and staff of the camp, medical workers and the children have been questioned. The Maisky District Police Department’s Economic Safety and Anti-Corruption Office has been ordered to check the camp’s activity, including to find the suppliers of the food.
