Suspect of killing 10-year-old boy detained in Chelyabinsk Region

The Chelyabinsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee continues an inquiry into murder of a minor under part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code.

A 10-year-old boy left home in the afternoon of 14 July 2017, in the town of Kasli and never came back. His mother reported it to the police. According to preliminary information, the boy rode his bicycle to the school library, but did not come back home.

On the morning of 8 July, investigators of the Investigative Committee and operative services of the Chelyabinsk Region Police Department found the boy’s body.

The investigators and criminologists of the Investigative Committee, police and volunteers had gone through more than 260 houses located around the way the boy had presumably taken. More than 30 witnesses who had seen the boy were found and questioned. Garages, gardening communities, recreation centers adjoining to the town or located 10-15 km from the town had been examined. Workers of the Emergency Ministry and the State Small Vessels Inspectorate had used sonars and divers to examine the Kasli town pond. The investigators had checked more than 100 persons with previous convictions.

The investigators have worked meticulously and identified a suspect – a 29-year-old resident of Kasli.

The man told the investigators, that on 14 June 2017, he lured the boy to his house and killed him. Then he buried the body in a deserted place.

The suspect has been detained under Article 91 of the RF Criminal Code and is now expecting charges and custodial restraint. The investigators are working to find out the circumstances and motives of the crime. Together with the police they continue examining the crime scene and carrying out investigative operations to find out all the details of the murder.

The inquiry is under control at the Central Office of the Investigative Committee. Earlier, Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee, ordered the investigators to find the boy as soon as possible and find out all the circumstances of his disappearance.
