Man from Orenburg Region found guilty of killing partner and child and gets life

A court has recognized the evidence collected by the Orenburg Region Office of the Investigative Committee as sufficient to convict a 33-year-old resident of the town of Orsk, an Azerbaijani national. He was found guilty of murder of two people, including a child, committed with special cruelty to conceal another crime under Part 2, items “a’, “c”, “e” and “i” of Article 105 and attempt on the life of a law-enforcer under Article 317 of the RF Criminal Code.

The court and investigators have revealed that on the evening of 2 November 2016, the man quarreled with his ex-girlfriend in her flat in Dobrovolsky Street in Orsk and stabbed her multiple times in the torso and neck. To hide the crime, he stabbed their 4-year-old daughter in the neck at least twice. The victims died on site and the man fled the scene.

As became known earlier, the man was detained on the evening of 3 November 2016, near a block of flats in Stroitelei Street in Orsk when he was trying to run away. He tried to fight back and attack police officers with a knife.

The investigators did a lot of work to solve the crime: together with specialists they examined the crime scene, questioned witnesses, ran forensic medical, DNA and other tests.

The court has sentenced the man to life in a super-maximum security correctional facility.
