Investigators detain suspect of killing man in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area

The Khanty-Mansi Inter-District office of the regional investigative authority continues an investigation in murder of Alexander Lavrov, a resident of Khanty-Mansiysk.

As became known earlier, fragments of his body were found on 25 December 2017, in a snowdrift, not far from the Khanty-Mansiysk Folk Art Center.

According to investigators, on 17 December 2017, the Folk Art Center was housing a meeting of the Cossack society. After the meeting, Alexander Lavrov remained in the building with its security officer Rudob Mukhtorov.  Witnesses, who attended the meeting, say that Mukhtorov had joined the Cossack society the day before and was very drunk on the night of 17 December.

The investigators are going to find out what happened between the suspect and the victim on that night.

It was impossible to detain Mukhtorov on hot scent as he left the region after the crime, but he was spotted on 13 January 2018. Police apprehended him in the town of Kurgan. He is going to be interrogated once he has been delivered in Khanty-Mansiysk. Investigator is going to ask a court to place Mukhtorov in custody.

The inquest is under personal control of senior officials of the regional investigative authority.
