The Altai Territory Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in reckless homicide under Part 1 of Article 109 of the RF Criminal Code after death of a young child.

According to investigators, in the afternoon of 24 January 2018, two young children got hold of matches while being home alone in the settlement of Tyumentsevo. They started playing with the matches and accidentally set fire to bedlinen which then spread to the clothes on one of the children. The boy’s mother ran into the house and put him out. The 4-year-old was taken to a hospital with extensive burns and died later.

Investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident. Necessary forensic examinations have been ordered. The investigation continues.
