In Perm Territory, court rules over woman starving her daughter

The evidence gathered by the Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia was found by the court to be sufficient to apply compulsory medical measures to a citizen of Krasnokamsk (Perm Territory). She is accused of committing a socially dangerous act under Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (murder of a person who is known by the killer to be in a helpless state).

The investigation and the court established that, from March to July 2018, the mother of the girl had intentionally limited her daughter’s nutrition in order to take her life, which had led to a severe weight loss of the minor who had kept going to school of Krasnokamsk. On the morning of July 16, 2018, the mother had noticed her 14-year-old daughter had lost consciousness and then had called an ambulance. The arrived doctors had pronounced her dead.

According to conclusions of a postmortem psychological and psychiatric forensic examination, the girl due to her age and psychological state had been under the influence of her mother and had not had a real chance to resist her actions and seek help on her own.

Meanwhile, the woman herself was found to have a psychological disorder that deprived her of being able to realize the actual nature and social danger of her actions and control them.

The court ruled to subject the mother of the deceased girl to compulsory medical measures.

Moreover, the court found former Deputy Director for Discipline of the Krasnokamsk General School No. 3 of Perm Territory Elena Pogorzhalskaya guilty of neglect of duty and sentenced her to suspended imprisonment.
