Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia orders to arrange probes into violation of rights of citizens reported by mass media

Today a federal TV channel broadcast a story of a 7-year-boy with a serious genetic disease; for a long time, Ufa officials have failed to order a life-saving medicine they were obliged to provide him with to the full extent. However, in a year the boy received only two ampoules out of the 26 he was supposed to get, and a pharmaceutical company gave him two more ampoules.

Also, a TV channel reported a story of a 76-year-old senior citizen from Saratov Region. Journalists told that the woman lived in a wet, cold house with cracks and the ceiling had already collapsed in one of the rooms. The elderly woman had repeatedly applied to the local authorities with requests for help; however, she received only waivers.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed the directions of the Bashkortostan and Saratov Regional Investigative Directorates to immediately launch pre-investigative probes into these facts, establish all circumstances of the situations reported by mass media, identify all responsible persons, and, having sufficient grounds, bring them to legal responsibility. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee has instructed the Central Office to supervise the process and the results of the probes.
