The Department I for Major Crimes Investigation of the Moscow Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia is investigating a probe into organization of financing terrorism. During investigation the nvestigators in cooperation with officers of the Federal Security Service, Interior Ministry, Federal Penal Service and ederal Financial Monitoring Service of Russia established involvement in these activities of Aslambek Ezhaev. He was charged with committing an offence under Part 4 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (organization of financing terrorist activities) and placed into custody considering motion of the investigation.
According to investigation, not later than in 2012 Aslamber Ezhaev, being a follower of ideas of radical Islam, organized financing terrorist activities of international terrorist organization "Islamic state" (banned in the Russian Federation by court decision). From 2012 to present time Ezhaev has been repeatedly carrying out conspiracy meetings with counterparts giving him money for financing "Islamic state". Later he transferred over 34 million rubles to persons put on a wanted list in Russia for committing terrorist offenses.
Apart from that, Ezhaev is a founder and an owner of Umma publishing house that was also used for collection and transfer of money. Books published by this publishing house were considered by examinations to be extremist, however, the man formally changed their names and republished them. These books were also distributed among prisoners.
As part of the criminal inquiry, investigators carried out searches in the place of residence of the suspect, during which they have found bank cards used for the financing of terrorism, devices for communication, banned literature, and other extremist attributes.
In order to establish other episodes of criminal activities the investigators are examining the perpetrator's contacts with participants of the international terrorist organization.
Investigation continues carrying out a set of investigative actions and search activities in terms of the probe.
