Russian citizen accused of attacking the Russian Embassy in Ukraine arrested in absentia

In terms of the probe into attack against the Russian embassy in Ukraine under Part 2 of Article 360 of the Criminal Code of Russia investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia motioned the Basmanny court in Moscow to put Irina Belacheu into custody.

Belacheu in charged with participation along with other persons in anti-Russian action near the Russian Embassy in Ukraine on March 6, 2016. During the action, Belacheu and other participants attacked the building of the Embassy, threw stones and other objects at the facade of the building enjoying international protection, smashed windows, disrupting the normal operation of the Russian mission abroad and causing major material damage.

Belacheu is hiding from the Russian justice abroad, she has been put on international wanted list, therefore the investigative motion can be considered in the absence of the accused. The court considered and evaluated the presented evidence, the investigative motion to put the accused into custody was granted.

The Investigative Committee of Russia will continue investigating all circumstances of attacks on the Russian diplomatic facilities in Ukraine, all actions of the attackers will be given adequate legal assessment.
