The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructs a number of heads of investigations directorates to report about incidents

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin instructed the head of the Leningrad Regional Investigative Department Sazin S.T. to report on the initial findings of the probe against a father suspected of torturing his children in the town of Tosno.

According to investigators, the father of three children aged between 7 and 9 had been systematically beating them for an extended period of time. The male suspect has been detained and the investigation has addressed the court with a motion to take him into custody. The children are currently being placed in a medical facility. Aleksandr Ivanovich Bastrykin has instructed investigators to look into the causes and conditions which contributed to the commission of crimes against children over a long period of time, as well as to identify the officials responsible for controlling the family and give their actions or inaction a proper legal assessment.

In addition, the Head of the Committee instructed the Acting Chief of the Saint Petersburg Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia, M.G. Parastaeva, to report on the circumstances of several traffic accidents. On September 24, 2021 a 22-year-old driver of a car hit two girls on Nevsky Prospect. As a result these girls were hospitalised. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia also focused on an incident in the Primorsky district of the city, where a woman and her five-year-old child were hit by a car driver at a pedestrian crossing.

The progress of fulfillment of the instruction is to be supervised by the Central Office of the Committee of Russia.
