The Voronezh Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia completed investigation of a criminal case against a 31-year-old man accused of committing crimes under paragraph H of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder combined with robbery) and Paragraph C of Part 4 of Article 162 (robbery with infliction of severe health damage to the victim).

According to investigators, on February 2, 2021 a native of neighboring country arrived by bus from Lipetsk to Voronezh at a public transport stop "Military Town". At that time, the man decided to commit a robbery, for which he purchased a kitchen knife in a nearby store, then proceeded to a wooded area near one of the cafes on Moskovsky Avenue in Voronezh, where he began to watch passers-by. At about 19:30 he saw a previously unknown 47-year-old woman walking by, talking on the phone, an intoxicated man attacked her and stabbed her at least 16 times. The woman died at the scene of the inflicted injuries. Then the attacker seized the property of the deceased, including a cell phone, a woman's bag with things in it, documents and cash of 10 thousand rubles, and then fled the scene, disposing of the stolen goods totaling at least 30 thousand rubles at his discretion. Around 11 p.m. that same day, the perpetrator left the Voronezh Region by bus.       

Investigators and forensic specialists of the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in cooperation with the police in a continuous mode took measures to identify the person involved in the crime: carefully studied the video from surveillance cameras, requested and studied the billing of telephone connections, questioned numerous witnesses, appointed examinations of footprints recovered from the scene of the crime and the traces of biological origin. The totality of the obtained data made it possible to identify the person involved in the commission of these crimes - it was a 31-year-old native of the near abroad, who was declared on the federal wanted list. As a result of the search operations the location of the offender was established in the Rostov region, where on February 10, 2021 he was detained and brought to the investigator for further investigative action. Upon investigative motion, the court ruled to put the accused into custody.

During the preliminary investigation, the defendant fully confessed to the crimes committed. His guilt is also confirmed by the testimony of numerous witnesses, video from surveillance cameras, the conclusions of 13 completed examinations, including forensic, medical-forensic, trace, comprehensive psychological and psychiatric examinations. 

The investigation has collected sufficient evidence, and therefore the criminal case with the approved indictment will be sent to court for consideration on the merits.
