The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia completed investigation of a criminal case against 56-year-old resident of Shchelkovo, Moscow region Igor Ivanov accused of attempted robbery and encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer (Article 317, Part 3 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code).

The investigation established that in July 2021, Ivanov, while inebriated at a sports ground in the yard of a house in the town of Shchelkovo, Moscow Region, in response to lawful demands of an operative on duty at Police Department No. 2 of the Interior Ministry of Russia "Vlasikha" to stop violating public order, struck him at least four times with a knife, committing murder. After that, Ivanov attempted to openly steal a telephone belonging to the victim, but was detained by eyewitnesses to the crime.

The criminal case against Ivanov was sent for subsequent submission to court.
